RNF Bit

An RNF Bit is also known as a Butterfly Flip Bit, named after the famous show jumping horse Butterfly Flip ridden by Malin Baryard. A kimblehook is a hanging D with a chin strap that works as a kind of milder pelham and is used with one rein. This bit has 3 options for attaching one rein. The lower the rein is placed, the greater the leverage and the sharper the bit becomes.

The RNF bit is mainly used for strong horses that are still getting used to a leverage action. Because the rider can choose the degree of leverage, they can gradually increase or decrease the level of leverage action. It is also possible to attach the rein normally to the D-ring, so the bit has no leverage and functions like a regular D-ring snaffle. This is ideal when using the same bridle on different horses. The RNF bit gives the rider more control over the horse than a standard side piece.

The RNF bit is often used by professionals in equestrian sports. It is a bit that should be used with care. The bit has a leverage effect, making it suitable only for horses that are strong in the hand. The horse should have a stable foundation before being ridden with an RNF. At HorseOnline, you can test the bit before buying it. An RNF bit is FEI-approved, but it is only allowed for use in the discipline of show jumping in competitions.
