Stress & Nervousness

When your horse feels stressed or nervous, behavioral changes usually occur. It is up to the rider or groom to closely monitor the horse to recognize these aspects. There are various means that can contribute to the relaxation of your horse. Based on a composition of products, we can offer the right solutions for your horse with our products.

It is of great importance to address (chronic) stress in a horse. Excessive stress experiences can lead to a reduced intestinal function in the long term. Reduced intestinal function is manifested in loose manure. This manure flushes away beneficial microorganisms, allowing harmful microorganisms to have even more opportunity to develop optimally. Additionally, stress can cause less blood flow to the stomach, making the stomach lining more sensitive. This can disrupt the stomach's acidity, leading to the risk of gastric ulcers. As a final consequence, too much stress in a horse can result in (over)sensitivity to sugars in the diet. The hormone released when your horse is stressed leads to rapid burning and the production of insulin. Insulin ensures that important nutrients are absorbed into the body. In case of an excess of insulin, glucose must be processed in a different way. The overall resistance of the horse may deteriorate when experiencing stress for a prolonged period.
